Section 6.1 Term of Office
Elected officials shall serve a full year commencing May 1 and continuing through April 30 of the following year.

Section 6.2 Qualifications
No officer may hold a particular office for more than a year. The nominees for President must have at least junior status by the beginning of the semester during which they will serve. All officers must be in good standing as a student member of the Institute and have a cumulative grade point average greater than 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale).

Section 6.3 Passing on Information
Outgoing officers will train new officers in their duties, through use of the Chapter Activity Report and Transition Manuals. New officers will be required to all attend Executive Committee meetings after their election.

Section 6.4 Description and Duties of Officers
1) President

The President, as Chief Executive Officer, shall supervise the organization's affairs and activities. The President will work with the Faculty Advisor and the Regional Vice President in all Institute matters. Duties of the President shall include, but not be limited to the following.

· IIE Leader
· IIE Central Communicator
· IE Department Contact
· University Relations
· Annual Strategic Plan (Mission, Objectives & Goals)
· IIE National Contact
· Communication with Senior Chapter, Region Vice President and
Chapter Operations Coordinator
· Submit Annual Chapter Activity Report
· New Policies & Procedures
· Student Opportunities (Scholarships, Conferences, Individual
Recognition, etc.)
· Prepare Chapter and Executive Committee Meeting Agendas
· Preside over Chapter and Executive Committee Meetings
· Conduct Annual Survey of Students Needs
· Annual Progress Report to Faculty Advisor, Department, and CEET
· Upkeep of Chapter Scholarship Fund
· Serve on CEET's Student Advisory Council
· Attend SA Organizational Assemblies
· General Guidance for Committee Functions
· Verify and Update Signature Access to Checking Account (w/Faculty Advisor)
· Checking Mailboxes
· IE Office
· SA Office
· Upkeep of Transition Manuals and Chapter Files
· General Upkeep of IIE Office
· Registration of organization with the SA each fall
· Coordination of organization with CEET each fall

2) Vice-President

The Vice-President, who shall preside at meetings in the absence of the President, shall also supervise membership promotion. The Vice President's primary responsibility will be industry and alumni relations. Duties of the Vice-President shall include, but not be limited to the following.

· Industry Relations
· Speakers
· Plant Tours
· Alumni Correspondence
· Annual Mailers
· Database Updates
· Pre-Alumni Survey
· Chapter Meeting Organization
· Find Speaker

· Update Co-op/Internship Database
· Update Company Information Files
· Membership
· Distinguished Membership Program
· IIE Registration
· Assist in Submitting Annual Chapter Activity Report
· Assist in General Upkeep of IIE Office
· Attend SA Organizational Assemblies
· Serve on CEET's Student Advisory Council
· Assist Upkeep of Transition Manuals and Chapter Files
· Assist in General Upkeep of IIE Office

3) Treasurer

The Treasurer shall report to and assist the President in directing the financial affairs of the Institute. The Treasurer shall make policy recommendations concerning accounting procedures and controls. He/she will also recommend financial guidelines for all conference budgets and report on financial matters to the Executive Committee. Duties of the Treasurer shall include, but not be limited to the following.

· Serve as Member of the Executive Committee
· Verify and Update Signature Access to Checking Account (w/Faculty Advisor)
· Submit Financial Reports at Chapter and Executive Committee Meetings
· Oversee Finances of Chapter Scholarship Fund
· Fundraising
· Corporate Support
· Scheduling Fundraisers
· General Reimbursement
· Annual Budget
· Budget Tracking
· Taxes
· Funding Proposals
· IE Department
· CEET
· Corporate
· Other
· Assist in General Upkeep of IIE Office
· Serve on CEET's Student Advisory Council
· Assist Upkeep of Transition Manuals and Chapter Files

4) Secretary

The Secretary shall be responsible for maintaining communication ties between the officers and the members. The secretary shall take minutes at each Chapter and Executive Committee meeting and provide a copy of those minutes at the following meeting. Duties of the Secretary shall include, but not be limited to the following.

· Serve as Member of the Executive Committee
· Keep Minutes of each Chapter and Executive Committee Meeting
· Maintain Roster of all Chapter Members
· Maintain Chapter E-mail List
· Send Chapter Updates and Electronic Newsletters via E-mail
· Assist in Submitting Annual Chapter Activity Report
· Assist in Upkeep of Test File
· Assist in General Upkeep of IIE Office
· Assist in Upkeep of Transition Manuals and Chapter Files

5) Communications Director

The Communications Director shall be responsible for publicizing all IIE events, activities, awards, and general information. Duties of the Communications Director shall include, but not be limited to the following.

· Serve as Member of the Executive Committee
· Chairperson of Communications Committee
· Chapter Web Page Maintenance
· Event Advertising
· Posters
· Flyers
· Email
· Other
· IIE Bulletin Board
· IIE Paper Newsletter
· Membership
· Encouragement
· Recruitment
· Programs
· IE Department, CEET, and NIU News
· IIE Regional and National News
· Assist in General Upkeep of IIE Office
· Assist Upkeep of Transition Manuals and Chapter Files

6) Educational Director

The Educational Director shall be responsible for planning and coordinating academic activities. Duties of the Educational Director shall include, but not be limited to the following.

· Serve as Member of the Executive Committee
· Chairperson of Education Committee
· Mentoring Program
· College Class Presentations (lower level classes: IENG 100, IEET 100,
IENG 334, etc.)
· High School Presentations
· Assist in upkeep of Chapter Scholarship Fund
· EIT/FE Professional Exam Study Groups
· Assist in Upkeep of Test File
· Assist in General Upkeep of IIE Office
· Assist Upkeep of Transition Manuals and Chapter Files

7) Activities Director

The Activities Director shall be responsible for planning and coordinating social activities. Duties of the Activities Director shall include, but not be limited to the following.

· Serve as Member of the Executive Committee
· Chairperson of Activities Committee
· Officer Retreat
· Executive Committee Summer Meetings
· Social Activities
· New Student Welcome Event
· Sporting Events
· Socials
· Etc.
· Departmental Banquet
· Joint Socials with Other Organizations
