Section 3.1 Regulations 1) Elections shall be held in late February or early March. It is recommended that elections be scheduled before the Student Regional Conference. 2) Officers shall be elected by a secret ballot. The option for voting in absentia shall be given upon approval of the Faculty Advisor(s). 3) No officer shall be elected to office if expected to graduate before completing at least one-half year in office. 4) A nominee must obtain a plurality of votes to be elected. But no candidate may be elected with less than two-fifths of the total number of votes. If runoff elections are necessary, all candidates with fewer than one-fifth of the total number of votes will be removed from consideration. 5) If a tie occurs, a random device will choose the winner. Members of the Nominating Committee and the Faculty Advisor(s) will conduct the random device. 6) All members of the Chapter are eligible to vote. Section 3.2 Special Elections The Vice President shall fill a vacancy in the office of President. Special meetings will be called to elect new officers to fill vacancies in other offices that may occur. Written notice of these meetings, their purpose, and the office to be filled will be posted throughout the Engineering Building or mailed to all members at least ten (10) days prior to the date of such a meeting. Section 3.3 Removal from Office Removal of any officer may be accomplished only upon presentation of just and reasonable cause for such action to the Faculty Advisor(s). Removal must be approved by the Faculty Advisor(s) and a two-thirds vote by Chapter members at a regular meeting. Cases for and against the removal of an officer must be presented to the Chapter's members before a removal vote is taken.
